High Representative Inzko visits UWCiM |
On Thursday, June 24 High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina H.E. Mr. Valentin Inzko visited the United World College and Gymnasium Mostar. The UWCiM was the only institution Mr. Inzko decided to visit during his stay in Mostar within the public debate “Young People and Education“. Mr. Inzko met with UWCiM students and teachers who shared with him their experience of studying and working in this very unique educational institution in BiH.
During the meeting ambassador Inzko emphasized that UWCiM represents a perfect example of genuinely integrated school and that as such could be a perfect model for organizing not only the whole educational system in the country, but society in general. He underlined that UWCiM practically demonstrates all the things that peoples in BiH could accomplish by working together for the common benefits.
Talking with the High Representative Inzko the UWCiM students highlighted the advantages of interactive and intercultural education in the college comparing it with the experience from their previous schools. The UWCiM teachers emphasized their constant professional development and college investments in the human capacities. Newly appointed UWCiM headmistress Valentina Mindoljević informed Mr. Inzko about the efforts that college is undertaking in facilitating the reform of secondary education in BiH and about the activities of the Centre for professional development of the teachers in BiH. She also underlined the importance of keeping UWC in Mostar and in Bosnia and Herzegovina and sustaining its long-term financial stability.
